I can’t say it in any way better than James Bradley’s view on designers:
“We designers don’t get hired to make pretty things or win design awards. We get hired to solve business problems.”
And that is in a nutshell what I do at the VDAB.
I worked on multiple projects, wijkwerken, bedrijvendatabank, comeet, competent, dienstencatalogus, contacten, projectbeheer, IBO ….
These are mainly projects for internal use. Projects for speeding up and facilitating the internal processes.
Important is my place within the company as a UX designer. I was part of a multidisciplinary team. I worked with the business specialist, the analysts, and the I&T department. Starting with ideation, helping to visualize the needs, and ending with prototypes and code-ready mock-ups. Always keeping the focus on the end-user.
